County Executive Falk Announces Dane County Receives $353,466 in Terrorism Equipment Grants

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today announced that Dane County is receiving $353,466 in federal terrorism equipment grants for local emergency responders. The equipment will be purchased under Wisconsin's Homeland Security Equipment Program.

"It's important to understand that this will help us no matter what the emergency - from terrorism to tornadoes,” said Falk.

“New radios and other communications equipment will allow local police, fire and emergency medical personnel to communicate more effectively. Other equipment will help emergency medical technicians respond more effectively if many people are hurt in an emergency," Falk said. “Detection equipment will also help public health staff to keep our water safe.”

Since 1999, Dane County has been awarded more than $1.5 million in terrorism funds.
